Abstract
This briefing focuses on issues relating to those people who have developed a combined sight and hearing impairment over the age of 60. It argues that sensory impairment is often seen to be an inevitable part of growing older, and therefore does not attract sufficient investigation or intervention. The overall purpose of the report is to raise awareness amongst those without technical knowledge of deafblind issues, so that early intervention is possible.
